Metafrax has once again become one of the best employers in Russia
The "golden" status in the rating was formed by the total amount of evaluation of the elements of the ESG agenda, and according to the "Ecology" metric, the company received the highest "platinum" rating for the first time.
Forbes conducts a survey of the best employers in Russia annually for the sixth time. According to the methodology developed in 2021, the participants of the rating are evaluated according to the main elements of the ESG agenda, without assigning places. As a result, according to the sum of the estimates of the main metrics, the companies are divided into four groups: "Platinum", "Gold", "Silver" and "Bronze".
In 2024, Metafrax Chemicals was recognized as the "golden employer" in the chemical industry, receiving Platinum according to the "Ecology" metric (E), Silver according to the "Employees and Society" metric (S) and Gold according to "Corporate Governance" (G). A total of 167 companies were included in the rating.
- Platinum in ecology is the first in the history of Metafrax Chemicals, which indicates an increase in the effectiveness of the company's efforts to preserve the environment and improve the environmental situation in the territories of its presence, – said Mariya Konovalova, Director of Strategic Communications at Metafrax Chemicals JSC.
Last year, the total costs of Metafrax Chemicals for environmental protection amounted to 155.8 million rubles, for the operation of wastewater treatment plants exceeded 95 million rubles, for the protection of atmospheric air – 23.5 million rubles. According to the results of regular measurements of the state of atmospheric air, the company has been operating for many years without exceeding the maximum permissible concentration of harmful substances.
The company has successfully implemented several major environmental projects. The largest of them is the installation of carbon dioxide extraction at the Ammonia–Urea-Melamine (AUM) complex. The unit implements an innovative technology for the use of flue gases from methanol reforming furnaces to extract carbon dioxide and then use it as a raw material for the synthesis of urea and melamine. In 2023, a wastewater treatment plant was put into operation as part of the AUM complex, and the technical revamping of the thermal neutralization of industrial wastewater was completed.
The Working Group on the systematic implementation of the principles of sustainable development in the company's activities was established in 2022. In the same year, a presentation of a unique monobrand for the unified positioning of the holding's ESG initiatives took place at the VII Perm Engineering and Industrial Forum.
