The best in their field

"Metafrax Chemicals" has resumed the professional skill contests. The representatives of three professions – welders, lathe operators and maintenance fitters were first to demonstrate their skills and abilities.

9 welders of the company and 5 students of the Ural Chemical Technology College (UCTC) joined the fight for the title of the best in their profession. The participants had to go through the theoretical part consisting of questions regarding professional activities and labor protection, and a practical test. The contestants traditionally competed in two types of welding – manual arc welding with coated electrodes and manual argon arc welding with a non-melting electrode. The quality of each welding seam was assessed by experts, both visually and by a measuring test, as well as by X-ray.

Vladimir Dorozhevets was recognized as the best in argon arc welding, Vasily Bosiy took the second place, and Andrey Bosiy took the third. Vladimir Dorozhevets has won again in manual arc welding, Nikolay Semenov took the second place, Valery Popov took the third. Denis Aleynik (first place), Nikita Sidorov (second place) and Leonid Ivanov (third place) turned out to be the best among the UCTC students.

At the competition, the lathe operators also had to go through the theoretical part, where, in addition to test questions, they had to make a sketch of the presented part, and go through the practical task. 7 people took part in the competition. Vladimir Tryastsin was recognized as the best of the best, Sergey Tsvilev took the second place, and Aleksey Parfutsky took the third.

8 workers of repair workshop became the contenders for the victory in the tournament of maintenance fitters. With the help of fitting and measuring tools, they had to cut two identical plates from the blank part, process their profile and connect them with a bolt. In the theoretical part, maintenance fitters went through test questions and a sketch of the presented part. Denis Vidyakin won the "gold" of the competition, Maxim Petrov got the "silver", and Vladimir Angerman took the third place.

Diplomas and bonuses were presented to the winners by Dmitry Kotsolainen, the Deputy Chief Mechanic of the enterprise, and Oleg Vityutnev, the Head of the Repair workshop. All participants of the contest have received gifts. According to tradition, the main contest bonus for the winners was an increased salary during the year: the holders of the first place had an increase by 7%, the second – by 5%, and the third – by 3%.
