Among the best

The final of the Seventh All-Russian Conference "Young Technicians and Inventors" took place in Moscow at the site of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. In the category "New Materials and Chemical Technologies", established in 2019 on the initiative of Metafrax Group, the work of Alyona Varlashova from Perm was recognized the best. A pupil of the Quantorium Photonics Children’s Technopark presented her work "Perm bio sorb BioNanoSorbent for oil and petroleum products" to the conference participants. The project is aimed at recultivation and environmental rehabilitation of waste disposal facilities. The research adviser is Dmitriy Kuzyakin.

This year, based on results of regional stages, over 350 individual and group projects with prototypes made by pupils from 70 regions of Russia were selected for participation in the final. Twelve best works selected by the jury will represent Russia at the international Lepin Competition, Europe's largest and oldest exhibition of inventors. The conference was held with support of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science and the largest companies in the country.

The conference was attended by Maria Konovalova, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC Metafrax and a member of the Perm Region Legislative Assembly.

“This year the conference was held online for the first time, but it did not affect the activity of participants at all. I am glad that Perm pupils are among the best. Thus, in our "chemical" nomination three works from the Perm region reached the final. I congratulate Alyona Varlashova and her mentors with a well-deserved victory. I hope that this success will become an additional motivation for young researchers”, stated Maria Konovalova.

Presentation of diplomas and gifts to Alyona Varlashova will be held separately when official documents come from Moscow.

Alexander Mikhailov, Deputy General Director of Metafrax Engineering and Technology Center LLC, who was an expert in the evaluation of competitive projects, also shared his impressions about participant works.

“I am glad that there are many participants from the Perm region in this competition in the field of "New Materials and Chemical Technologies", we can say that we are number one in the country. And in general, many works are prepared at a high professional level, demonstrate original innovative ideas and bold technical solutions. Alena Varlashova from Perm, Alexandra Ladikhina from Ivanovo region and other authors have very strong projects. We took a number of ideas on notice for further work within the group”, commented Alexander Mikhailov.
