Armen Garslyan: "We plan to increase the production of resins in the near future"
Armen Garslyan, chairman of the Board of Directors of "Metafrax" PJSC, spoke about the changes in the production of resins at the enterprise after the launch of the AUM complex:
- The Ammonia-Urea-Melamine complex will strengthen our positions as a producer of synthetic resins.
Our own methanol production currently covers the intra-group demands. With the launch of the AUM complex, we will start producing our own urea and melamine, which are the components necessary for the production of various grades of resins.
There is not enough melamine being produced in Russia. At the same time, we are a major consumer, using almost 40 thousand tons of this product at two sites. After putting the urea and melamine plants into operations, we will cover our demand for these products.
As of today, the group of companies produces 1.1 million tons of resins at three sites. We plan to increase their production by another 200 thousand tons in the near future. There is a demand for these volumes and world-class companies are building new production facilities in Russia.
16 years ago we became the catalyst for their arrival in Russia, because resins of this class were not previously produced within the country. According to our calculations, thanks to this situation, more than 12 billion euros have been invested in the Russian economy. These are woodworking industries, thermal insulation and many other things.
The situation with the pandemic has undoubtedly adjusted the timing of the AUM complex construction, but we are putting forth our best effort to finish the construction and start the commissioning this year.
