The Kama region citizens gave oncology patients hundreds of chances to beat cancer

Over the year, the number of Perm citizens in the National Register of Potential Bone Marrow Donors increased by a quarter and reached 3.6 thousand people. According to the Dedmorozim Foundation, 843 people came to donor center and donor actions in 2018.

Anyone who joined the register can save life of a child or an adult that have a blood cancer. Because the registry specialists are looking for donors who are willing to share bone marrow cells that are suitable for patients during transplantation. The greater the compatibility of a donor and a patient, the higher the chances of being treated without complications and recover fully.

“Every year these donors are needed by almost 5,000 Russians. But so far, there are not enough donors in the National Registry for anyone who needs help could get it, – says Dmitry Zhebelev, co-founder of Dedmorozim Foundation. – Currently, the database contains about 90 thousand people. To find the bone marrow for at least half of Russian patients, you need 500 thousand potential donors”.

Perm citizens significantly help to bring this goal closer. The largest network of bone marrow donors operates in the Kama region: it is possible to join the register in 51 Medlabexpress laboratories on any weekday. The work of centers and the donor project in general was financially supported by PJSC Metafrax and by Seyfeddin Rustamov, beneficial owner of the company, personally. Employees of the company also joined the register, organizing the largest corporate campaign to involve bone marrow donors in the Perm region. The Metafrax and Dedmorozim Foundation project was recognized as the winner in The Best Volunteering Project nomination during the National Corporate Media Conference Silver Threads 2018.

In 2019, cooperation of chemical company Metafrax and Dedmorozim Foundation will be continued with the new Return the Future project.

Our joint efforts will be focused on rehabilitation and support of disabled orphans in the Rudnichny village orphanage, - said Seyfeddin Rustamov, - the project includes a professional rehabilitologist work and a friendly environment that considers individual needs of children.

At the same time, the project develops volunteer initiatives of the company: Metafrax employees will be able to become friends for children from the Rudnichny village orphanage: holding joint events, sincere communication will also become part of the rehabilitation program.
