The anniversary "Sunset on Krestovaya" will present a classical ballet
On June 26, the 10th opening of the festival "Secrets of Mount Krestovaya" will take place at the Rudyansky Spoy of the Mount Krestovaya. This year, the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater will participate in the "Sunset on Krestovaya" project with one-act ballets: "Polish Ball", "Polovtsian Dances", "The Spirit of the Rose" and "The Dying Swan".
"This year the festival marks its 10th anniversary. Our main achievement is the appreciation of the audience that arrives every year from all over the Perm Region and from other regions of Russia, - says Armen Garslyan, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Metafrax" PJSC and the co-founder of the festival, - It is symbolic that in 2012 the "Sunset on Krestovaya" project began with a performance by artists of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater. I would like to thank all those who are working to ensure that the history of the festival continues, especially - I would like to note the support of Dmitry Makhonin, the Governor of the Kama Region, in the development of our project".
"Polish ball" is a customary name of the second act of the "Life for the Tsar" opera by Mikhail Glinka. Perm Opera begins its 150-year history from the "Life for the Tsar" performance. In 2021, the theater presented the "Polish Ball" in a new production, recreating the choreography of Sergei Koren and Andrey Lopukhov, which was composed in 1939 for the Leningrad (Mariinsky) Opera and Ballet Theater.
"Polovtsian Dances" is a choreographic excerpt from Alexander Borodin's opera "Prince Igor". "The Dying Swan" is miniature, staged in 1907 By Mikhail Fokin for a ballerina named Anna Pavlova to the music of Camille Saint-Saens from the suite "The Carnival of the Animals". "The Spirit of the Rose" by Mikhail Fokin is a ballet about a woman who falls asleep after the first ball in her life, who dreams that the spirit of a rose appears in the window, inviting her to dance.
"It is remarkable that the tradition of showing performances outdoors in such a beautiful place as Mount Krestovaya has been preserved in the Perm Region for the past 10 years. We are glad that we can present one of the premieres of this season at the festival this year, namely the "Polish Ball", and show ballets from the repertoire of the theater", — says Anton Pimonov, the head of the Perm Ballet.
"Metafrax and the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater have long-standing partnerships as well as joint cultural, educational and patronage projects. Artists of the Perm Opera have repeatedly performed at the opening of the "Sunset on Krestovaya" festival, - comments Maria Konovalova, the chairman of the organizing committee of the festival, - This year, the premiere performance of the Perm Ballet should be a real gift to the audience for the anniversary festival".
"The main program of the festival will be held in Gubakha from July 3 to July 8, 2021 and it will be presented by the most powerful productions of bright theater groups of our country: the "Ballet of Yevgeny Panfilov" theater (Perm), the "Chekhov Studio" theater (Melikhovo), the Workshop of Tanya Strelbitskaya. And of course, we will present the landscape premiere of the director Radion Bukaev, - notes Lyubov Zaitseva, the director of the festival.
The event will be held in compliance with all anti-epidemic measures and recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor. All checkpoints will be equipped with non-contact thermometers, sanitizers and personal protective equipment.
