Evgeny Ketov's tournament and the Metafrax Award
Gubakha celebrated the fifth anniversary of the opening of the all-season ice arena on a large scale.
On May 17-18, the fifth tournament for the Evgeny Ketov Ice Hockey Cup for children born in 2016 took place at the Gubakha Ice Arena. The following teams fought for the victory in the competition: "SKA Army" from St. Petersburg, "Hammer 2016" and "Legend" from Perm, "Bars" from Berezniki and Gubakha's "Sports School".
Dmitry Makhonin, Governor of the Perm Territory, Albert Khudaibirdin, Managing Director for Production at Metafrax Chemicals JSC, Armen Garslyan, Alexey Mazlov and Maria Konovalova, deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Perm Territory, Nikolai Lazeikin, Head of the Gubakha Municipal District, arrived to cheer for young athletes and congratulate Gubakha hockey fans.
The leaders of the competition were St. Petersburg athletes "SKA Army". The second line of the tournament table was taken by Bars, players from Berezniki. The third - by the hockey players of the Perm team "Legend". Not only the winners received awards on the final day of the tournament. Dmitry Makhonin, the governor of the Perm Territory, presented a certificate for 500 thousand rubles for the purchase of equipment to Kirill Makarov, Director of the Gubakha Sports School.
There was also a solemn celebration of the hockey players of the Metafrax team, the winner of the regional competitions and the Cup of the Perm Territory in ice hockey of the "A" division of the 2023-2024 season.

The tournament, like the ice arena, is in place for five years. The initiator of both the tournament and arena is Evgeny Ketov, a former pupil of the Gubakha hockey section, world champion. Currently, the recognized master coaches the SKA hockey team in St. Petersburg. It was possible to realize the dream and build an indoor all-season ice arena in the city thanks to the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Foundation, the support of the regional and municipal authorities, the deputy corps and the city-forming enterprise of Gubakha - Metafrax Chemicals. The complex was opened in April 2019. Now 126 children are playing hockey here, and a figure skating section has been opened, in which 60 young figure skaters train.
In five years, athletes have achieved tangible success: young figure skaters take part in competitions in Sochi, Mozhga, Kazan, Perm, Berezniki. The Metafrax team won the Perm Krai Cup, young hockey players of different ages became winners and prize-winners of the regional Championship. The biggest achievement of 2023 is the third place in the All–Russian final of young hockey players "Golden Puck" in the city of Salavat. The students of the arena take part in the Russian Ice Hockey Championship, playing for the teams of Perm, Neftekamsk and Khanty-Mansiysk.
