​Perm Opera and Ballet Theater will perform at the Mariinsky Theater

From May 30th to June 3rd, the Mariinsky Theater will host a tour of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Perm. "Metafrax Group" provided philanthropic support to this project.

- "Metafrax Group" is actively engaged in holding anniversary events; this is an important occasion for all residents of the region. One of the most significant cultural projects for us is the tour of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater in St. Petersburg, - noted Maria Konovalova, the Director of Strategic Communications at "Metafrax Group", - Our artists will perform on several stages of the Mariinsky Theater, the historical and creative paths of which are inextricably linked with the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater. It is wonderful that there is a common understanding of the need for further development of these connections and that there is an opportunity to present Perm art on the famous stage of the legendary Mariinsky.

The tour will open on May 30th. The “Parma Voices” choir of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater will perform on the stage of the Prokofiev chamber hall. To commemorate the 150th anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninoff's birthday, the choir conducted by Ekaterina Antonenko will present its reading of his Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom.

On June 1st, Bellini's "Norma" will be shown on the historical stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. The first performance of the play took place at the end of last season. Migran Agajanyan is the musical director of the production and conductor, Maksim Petrov is the production director, Al'ona Pikalova is the set designer, Irena Belousova is the costume designer, Konstantin Binkin is the lighting designer, Evgeny Vorobyov is the production choirmaster.

On June 2nd, Verdi's "La Traviata" will be performed in concert at the concert hall of the Mariinsky Theater. The end of the Perm troupe's tour will be the run of the ballet show "Romeo and Juliet", which will be held on June 3rd at the new stage of the Mariinsky Theater. The ballet will be presented under the choreography of a British classic - Kenneth MacMillan. Teodor Currentzis is the musical director of the production, Aleksey Miroshnichenko is the artistic director, Tatiana Noginova is the costume production curator, Gary Harris and Carl Burnett are production ballet-masters, Mauro Carosi is the production designer, Odette Nicoletti is the costume designer, Sergey Martynov is the lighting designer. Migran Agajanyan will be at the conductor's stand for all three evenings.
