Metafrax produced half a million tons of urea at the new AUM Complex
A significant event for the enterprise took place on February 5, 2024 at 10:00: the release of five hundred thousand tons of commercial prilled urea at the plant related to the AUM complex (Ammonia-Urea-Melamine) of Metafrax Chemicals. The shift supervisor on that day was Konstantin Savinykh.
A reminder note that the AUM complex (Ammonia-Urea-Melamine) of Metafrax Chemicals was started-up in June 2023. With the opening of a new production facility, Metafrax completed the implementation of the largest investment project in the holding’s history, which was started in 2017.
Thanks to the creation of the AUM complex, the range of products of the enterprise has been expanded, about 400 new highly qualified workplaces have been created. During the construction of the complex, the best available technologies were used. In particular, a CO2 recovery unit has made it possible to achieve a significant environmental effect: direct emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere have been reduced in half.
The urea plant is presented as an integration of the prilled urea production and a process chain interconnected with the melamine plant. The off- gases of the melamine plant are returned to the urea plant, where they are processed into the initial product again: urea. According to GOST 2081-2010, the finished product of the urea plant at JSC Metafrax Chemicals is commercial urea of the highest grade (99.7%).
Urea is used for the production of urea-formaldehyde concentrate (UFC), synthetic resins and melamine, and is widely used in agriculture.
