Metafrax intends to approve long-term energy saving program in summer 2008

In summer 2008 Metafrax intends to approve long-term energy saving program. As says technical director of the company Nikolay Ilyukhin in 2006-2007 Metafrax had examined the company's power management system to issue the company's power system certificate. These works had been performed by UralORGRES, Yekaterinburg (cost of works - 2 mln. rubles).

The purposes of these works were to estimate actual power consumption, to detect causes of fuel and energy losses, to develop measures reducing loss of fuel and energy resources.

Elaborated measures have improved the company's steam system hydraulics and this allowed to make maximal use of the steam produced by new urea formaldehyde concentrate (UFC) plants, which presently satisfy 50% of the company's total steam consumption.

"Due to the fact that power resources in Russia are still significantly cheaper than in the Western countries, we have different approaches to the energy saving. The European companies implement the projects with 2-3% of saving. In our country such projects are not even considered. That is why quality of the western projects is much higher" - Nikolay Ilyukhin remarks.

Presently, the important task for the company's experts is to develop a long-term energy saving program which should be approved by Metafrax this summer.

Metafrax is constantly aware of energy saving when revamps existing plants or erects the new ones. Resources and power consumption of the most plants corresponds to the advanced world standards. Foe example, revamped methanol plant has reduced resources and energy consumption per 1 ton of a product (natural gas - 70m3 less, power - 8 kW less, water - 0,3 m3 less).
